Man remanded over boxer murder

A third man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a former heavyweight boxer gunned down at a London bar.

James Oyebola died after being shot in the head and leg at close range in Fulham, southwest London, in July after an alleged argument over smoking.

Two other men - Rene McKoy, 19, and Kanyanta Mulenga, 22 - were remanded in custody on Thursday after appearing at the court on the same charge

Dean Francis, 23, of Roehampton, south west London, appeared at West London Magistrates Court charged with the 47-year-old's murder.

Francis was remanded in custody until January 3, when the case will resume at the Old Bailey

Two other men - Rene McKoy, 19, and Kanyanta Mulenga, 22 - were remanded in custody on Thursday after appearing at the court on the same charge.

Mr Oyebola, who lived in northwest London, was attacked at the Chateau 6 club in Fulham Road, and died in hospital four days later.

After his death, his brother, Kelly, who runs a youth mentoring service, described him as a "gentle giant" and a "peacemaker".

The Oyebola family have since said they will establish a charity foundation in his name aimed at helping direct youngsters towards a brighter future.

McKoy from Clapham, south London, and Mulenga, from Putney, south west London, are due to appear at the Old Bailey on January 3.
