Eight US soldiers killed in Iraq
Eight US soldiers were killed in Iraq, including six who died along with a journalist in a roadside bomb attack north of Baghdad.
The US military said the incident took place in the turbulent Diyala province after a bomb hit a vehicle that the soldiers and the journalist were travelling in.
A spokesman said the journalist was European and worked for a news organisation that did not have a permanent presence in Baghdad but gave no further information.
Many foreign reporters have been embedded with military units during the US-backed security crackdown in and around Baghdad that began in February.
Two other soldiers were killed in separate bomb attacks on Sunday, the military said, including one in Baghdad.
The attack is one of the deadliest in months for US forces since it sent 1,000 personnel to fight entrenched al Qaeda militants and Sunni Arab insurgents in the area
