The 90s teen band New Kids On The Block have confirmed rumours they are releasing an album following their split 14 years ago.

NKOTB members Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Jordan Knight and his brother Jonathan, sold more than 80 million records and at the time hit a record with the sale of merchandising products.

"The last 20 years we lived a lot of life and so many amazing life experiences, but when we get back together, in a lot of ways it is like we're 18-years-old" - NKOTB member Joey McIntyre

Following the announcement of the new single Summertime, Wahlberg said: "We found a song and we recorded the song and we really loved it, we realised that we kind of missed it."

McIntyre said: "The last 20 years we lived a lot of life and so many amazing life experiences, but when we get back together, in a lot of ways it is like we're 18-years-old."

McIntyre told reporters what his female fans likely wanted to hear: "We are never going to grow up. So in that sense, we are still kids in a way."

According to reports NKOTB are recruiting Michael Jackson to join them on stage. It's thought the group held secret talks with the King of Pop in Nevada last week.

Fan Susan Sandler, in her late 20s, said: "I was hoping for it all this time. Once it was announced I was crying the whole time, screaming. My entire family had to suffer."

The New Kids On The Block are all in their mid- to late 30s and are seen as idols for such boy groups as Take That, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone.

Following their new single Summertime, a Kids album is scheduled to be released in September.
