Corrie veteran honoured
Corrie star Bill Roache will be awarded with an honorary doctorate.
The actor who has played Ken Barlow in Coronation Street for 47 years, will receive the honour from the University of Chester in recognition of his "uniquely sustained contribution" to television.
The 74-year-old is the world's longest-serving soap star and is the only original cast member still in the popular show.
Journalist and broadcaster Joan Bakewell will also receive the honour at a ceremony with 500 other graduates in Chester Cathedral.
University Vice-chancellor, Professor Tim Wheeler, said: "In Chester, we are fortunate to be able to tap into a rich vein of achievement, talent and philanthropy.
"Bill Roache and Joan Bakewell demonstrate all these attributes magnificently."
