Glitter to leave jail early
Disgraced glam rocker Gary Glitter will be released from prison early.
The 63-year-old, who is serving a three-year sentence in Vietnam for molesting two young girls, will be freed on August 19 it has been reported.
Vietnamese authorities were quoted as saying he will be released in a fortnight, after being given a sentence reduction to mark Lunar New Year.
Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was arrested in November 2005 at Ho Chi Minh airport as he tried to leave the country.
He was convicted in March 2006 of committing obscene acts with two girls aged 10 and 11.
An official at Thu Duc jail, where he is being held, said: "According to Vietnamese law, Glitter will be freed on August 19."
He said: "The decision on his release will be read before him that day. It will be signed by the director of the prison."
In Britain Glitter served half of a four-month sentence in 1999 for possessing child pornography.
