E-fits have been issued of the two men police want to question about the shooting of a have-a-go hero.
Officers have been appealing for information exactly one week on at Rayleigh railway station, Essex, where Adam Mapleson received a wound to his chest.
The 24-year-old was injured when he intervened as armed robbers held up a female security guard who was loading a cash machine.
The two men fled with a cash box containing a substantial sum of money.
The first suspect is described as a white a man in his late 30s. He walked with a limp, was of stocky build, with brown hair and possibly a pony tail. He was wearing a dark jacket, trainers and a bandana around his neck.
The second suspect is said to be a white man in his 20s to 30s, of medium build with short brown hair and had a local accent. He was wearing blue jeans, white trainers, a brown jacket and a dark baseball cap.
Detective Superintendent Michael Field, who is leading the investigation into the attempted murder and armed robbery, said: "Adam is recovering well in hospital and was able to speak briefly with British Transport Police officers on Thursday.
"The e-fit images we have released are based on eye witness descriptions of the men who stole the cash box. We are appealing for anyone who thinks they may know the suspects to contact us or Crimestoppers.
"The robbers fled the scene in a white Ford Escort and we are also very keen to speak with anyone who may have information about the vehicle."
Police said the Escort was purchased for £300 from a dealer in Kent on May 17.
It had been seen being driven "erratically" in Websters Way, near Rayleigh railway station on the day of the attack, officers said.
After the incident, Mr Mapleson's father, Mike, described his son's actions as "heroic".
