Celebs step out for champion's awards

Emma Bunton and Barbara Windsor have been among a host of celebrities at the 2008 Children's Champions Awards.

The event honours those who have made an outstanding contribution to young people in the UK.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown also attended the event with wife Sarah, along with England manager Fabio Capello. Bunton said: "I've just met some wonderful people who have been so brave. It's been amazing.

"A lot of them were saying 'I'm just doing what anyone would do', but I think in this day and age people don't. I'm so proud of all these people in here because they've really gone forward and done good."

She was joined by Beverley Knight, Ross Kemp and Amanda Holden, who was one of the judges.

The winner of each category received £5,000 and the overall winner £10,000.
