Torres backs Liverpool to win title

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes the club can win the Premier League next season.

Torres scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield, then insisted Liverpool can leapfrog Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal next season.

Torres said: "We want to win trophies every season. Maybe next season, we will have to keep improving.

"For the fans the most important is the league. Maybe next season. We are a strong team and we can win every game."

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez also revealed his confidence about next season despite the recent boardroom squabbles between the club's co-owners Geroge Gillett and Tom Hicks.

Benitez said: "We are working together. We inform them and explain our ideas and I think we can progress. It is not perfect but we can keep going and try to sign players we want."
