Minogue Believes in Leon

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue believes last year's winner Leon Jackson just needs the right song to hit it big.

The 19-year-old from West Lothian claimed the coveted Christmas number one in 2007 with his debut single When You Believe.

"We need the right songs. He's got a great voice, and people love him, they really got behind him" - Dannii Minogue

Minogue, who was Jackson's mentor on the TV talent show, said she hopes he has all the success that previous winner Leona Lewis has had.

"We need the right songs. He's got a great voice, and people love him, they really got behind him.

"Even when I was in Australia I bumped into tourists out there from Britain - they stopped me in the street and said 'When's Leon's album coming out?'. And I think that says a lot."

But following in the footsteps of Lewis will be a tough task. In April the 23-year-old became the first British female solo artist to go straight to the top of the US album chart with Spirit.

The album debuted at number one on its release in the UK in November.

Her single Bleeding Love also went to number one in the US, and was the UK's biggest-selling single last year.
