Commuter chaos after scrap metal crash
Thousands of commuters faced delays after a goods train derailed and sent tonnes of scrap metal smashing through railway arches near Birmingham's Moor Street Station.
Four wagons came off the line and hit a wall which then sent rubble hurtling into a nearby car park and office block.
Rail freight operator EWS launched an investigation and Network Rail is also attempting to determine the cause of the incident, which happened shortly after 6am.
A spokesman for EWS said the derailment happened at low speed as the train neared Birmingham's Moor Street station.
"There were no injuries and a full investigation is going on at the site involving representatives from Network Rail and EWS," the spokesman added.
