Marine killed in training exercise accident

A Royal Marine has died and another was seriously injured after their Land Rover overturned during a training exercise, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.

The member of Plymouth-based 42 Commando, was killed in the accident at Lulworth Firing Range, near Weymouth, Dorset, on Tuesday.

The family of the marine, who was in his early 20s, have been informed of his death.

The incident is being investigated by the Army's Land Accident Investigation Team and the Royal Military Police.

The spokesman said: "There were five people in the Land Rover. One was sadly killed and another was seriously injured and taken to hospital."

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
