Mel B's hubby has dark past
It has been revealed that Mel B's new husband Stephen Belafonte, has a conviction for assault.
The movie producer drunkenly attacked his ex-girlfriend Nicole Contreras at her home in Beverly Hills in 2003.
The 32-year-old was then ordered to attend a domestic violence programme for a year which he completed in 2005.
But Contreras, who has a young daughter with Belafonte, insists her ex-partner has changed his ways.
Scary Spice and Belafonte have only just revealed that they secretly got married at a Las Vegas chapel over two months ago.
The Spice Girl and film-maker said of their marriage, "were at a good point in their lives and wanted to make a private commitment to each other".
The pair decided to keep the ceremony secret as they had planned to have a more formal wedding for friends and family to attend later in the year.
New mum Mel apparently turned to film producer Belafonte after she was dumped by US comic Eddie Murphy, who denied he was the father of her three-month-old baby girl, Angel Iris.
