Rafael Nadal could overtake Roger Federer at the top of the world tennis rankings within a week.

The Wimbledon champion beat Nicolas Kiefer 6-3 6-2 to win the Rogers Cup in Toronto and he will become world number one if he wins the Cincinnati Masters next week.

"I would love to be number one" - Rafael Nadal

Nadal has won seven tournaments this year, including the French Open and Wimbledon, and he has won 29 matches in a row.

Nadal said: "I win on every surface. I win on grass, on hard, on indoor, and on clay, too. So if I am playing my best tennis I can win on every surface.

"Every player wants to be number one. I would love to be number one, but I am number two right now.

"I'm very happy to be number two, because with my titles, with my points, in a normal situation I would have been number one before. If I am number two, it's because in front of me there is amazing player like Roger."
