US Open: Murray seeded 19th

Andrew Murray has been seeded 19th for the US Open which begins at Flushing Meadows next week.

The 20-year-old British number one is battling to overcome the wrist injury he suffered in mid-May and forced him out of both the French Open and Wimbledon.

World number one Roger Federer has been installed as the top men's seed while Justine Henin has been seeded as the top woman, ahead of defending champion Maria Sharapova

If Murray does compete in the New York Grand Slam tournament, his chances of improving on last year's efforts when he reached the fourth round will not be helped by his lack of fitness and match practice.

World number one Roger Federer has been installed as the top men's seed.

And having equalled Bjorn Borg's record of five successive Wimbledon titles, the 26-year-old from Switzerland will be looking to become the first man to win four consecutive singles titles in the Open Era.

And reigning French Open champion Justine Henin has been seeded as the top woman, ahead of defending champion Maria Sharapova.
