Brangelina support their causes in New York

Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have made a trip to New York, choosing a spot of charity work over a shopping spree.

Brangelina attended the Clinton Global Initiative, during which an emotional Angelina announced her plan to help children in conflict zones.

Brad also did his part and joined forces with millionaire Steve Bing, who is the father of Liz Hurley's son, Damian, to promote the Make It Right programme.

The duo are trying to raise money to help rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

And Brad made it clear they were willing to get their own cheque books out too, to support the cause.

He said: "We will match dollar for dollar any and every single contribution up to $10 million."
