X-Factor winner Leon Jackson has received a hero's welcome at his first public appearance in his Scottish hometown.

More than 500 ecstatic teenage fans mobbed the 18-year-old from Whitburn in West Lothian as he signed copies of his single When You Believe.

It's already been tipped for the Christmas number one spot on Sunday.

As the former shop assistant capped off the event with a performance of his song at the Almondvale Shopping Centre in Livingston, teddy bears and underwear were thrown on stage.

Some fans had camped out at the shopping centre overnight to ensure they were first in line to meet the rising star.

Leon told the crowd: "Thank you so much for this, I was aware this morning that there were people queuing so thanks very much for your support."
