The Blues are also reported to want Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery.

Chelsea's move is sure to be resisted by Milan and Kaka signed a five-year contract in March.

Milan missed out on a place in the Champions League after finishing fifth in Serie A last season. Kaka is said to be considering the move.

Chelsea are believed to be preparing to offer Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko in part exchange.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich wants flair football - and more silverware in the Stamford Bridge trophy room.
