Boro agree Mido fee

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate is hoping to sign Mido from Tottenham as the clubs have agreed a fee.

The Egypt striker will have a medical on Teesside but it seems unlikely that he will appear for Boro this week because he has not played in any of Spurs' pre-season matches and needs a work permit.

"He is currently in the process of having his medical" - Gareth Southgate

Southgate said: "We've agreed a fee with Tottenham and that's enabled us to have Mido up to see us and he's currently in the process of having his medical.

"Hopefully if everything goes well we'll have some news in the next 36 hours.

"All the talks have been very positive and I don't see the medical being too much of a problem for him."

Boro's north-east rivals Sunderland have also expressed an interest in Mido.
