Richard Gere claims he kissed Shilpa Shetty as a 'badge of courage'.

The Pretty Woman actor kissed Shilpa on the cheek several times at an anti-Aids event in new Delhi last year.

Until recently he was facing obscenity charges for kissing the Bollywood star in public but legal proceedings have been suspended and he is free to travel to India once again.

He said: "It's a badge of somewhat insane courage. It is a very complex society."
