Fergie set to snare Berbatov
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is closing in on Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Ferguson has revealed the Barclays Premier League champions have already made an offer for the Bulgarian, who scored 23 times for Spurs last season.
He is confident the former Bayer Leverkusen dangerman can add a new element to an already deadly United attack and finally turn attention away from the protracted Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga.
The Scot said: "We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through.
"Berbatov has been impressive for a long time and would be a great addition to our attack."
While Ferguson admits there are still issues to be resolved with Spurs, including the price of the £20 million-rated striker, he is happy to bide his time to ensure a successful pursuit.
Ferguson, who is with the United squad in South Africa on a pre-season tour said: "I think time will work for us more than against us.
"We will not stress over this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future."
