Suzanne Shaw has spoken out in support of single mothers after being crowned Celebrity Mum of the Year.

The Dancing On Ice Star hit out at people who criticised single mums and said she was "annoyed" by people who looked down on them.

After beating off tough competiton from former Hear'Say bandmates Myleene Klass and Kym Ryder, the 26-year-old said: "I don't think you can say who's the better mum"

Shaw was famously dumped by love-rat Darren Day just weeks after she gave birth to their son Corey, now three, with him telling her: "I don't do family".

Day left on Mother's Day, following reports he had cheated on Shaw with a dancer while she was eight-months pregnant.

She said of winning the award: "I do feel it's really good to show that you can do it alone. In the early days I did it alone and it was hard.

My son got me through it. Survival kicks in."

But she added: "I wouldn't say I'm a better mum than Myleene Klass or Kym Ryder. This is for all the mums out there, every celebrity mum.

"I don't think you can say who is a better mum than who."

Shaw now dates DJ Jason King while Day married actress Stephanie Dooley last year and the couple have a one-year-old daughter, Madison.
