McCartney performs free LA gig

Hundreds of Beatles fans have camped out to witness Paul McCartney perform a free gig at a record store in Los Angeles.

The rocker played to a crowd of around 300 at Amoeba Records, with devotees coming from as far as Japan, Canada and Australia.

McCartney fan Rinji Kamihata said: "I am from Japan and this is so great - like a dream come true."

Gina Smith, who was waiting outside the store, added: "I am from Indiana have been here since Monday at about four o'clock and Paul is great I have been a fan since I was four years old."

As the gig kicked off, McCartney joked with fans: "Welcome to Am ba - it's got to be the most surreal gig ever. The management has asked us to point out no shoplifting please."

The teaser show was just one of many ahead of the Beatle's full-scale concert tour to promote his new album Memory Almost Full.
