England are unsure as to whether talismanic all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will be able to take part in this winter's Test series in Sri Lanka.

Flintoff has already been forced to pull out of the current one-day series there after suffering further complications with an ongoing ankle problem.

"We'd love to have him there but obviously it's got to be sorted out for the long term" - England boss Peter Moores

And England boss Peter Moores has insisted the 29-year-old's wellbeing will not be put at risk.

Moores, speaking ahead of England's second one-dayer in Sri Lanka, said: "We are not sure.

"What we have said all along is we won't risk Andrew - if there's any chance that ankle is going to get worse, we won't risk it for the Test matches.

"They're still assessing it and we'll see where they go. We'd love to have him there but obviously it's got to be sorted out for the long term."
