Flying Brits to set chopper record
Two Brits are set to forge a new aviation record for having flown around the world in a helicopter.
Pilots Jennifer Murray and Colin Bodill, from Nottingham, set down in New York, within a few days of completing a helicopter journey that has lasted more than 160 days.
The pilots have travelled the globe via the North and South Poles, trekking 34,132 nautical miles.
This is the couple's second attempt to set the world record. They first tried in 2003, but were unable to complete the trip after a near death crash.
Ms Murray said because of the heartbreaking crash last time, the current trip has been a healing experience for her.
"I'm feeling terrific now. We've been to the South Pole, we've been to the North Pole. We're here in New York. I love New York, and it's just homeward bound for the helicopter to Fort Worth Texas," said Murray.
The last leg of the pair's trip will be back to Fort Worth, Texas, where they started the attempt in December of 2006. They are due to land there on May 23rd.
