David Beckham will be hoping to make his first start for Los Angeles Galaxy when they face Chivas Guadalajara on Saturday after watching his new club return to winning ways.

The Galaxy kicked off their SuperLiga group campaign with a much-needed 2-1 victory over Mexico's CF Pachuca.

And boss Frank Yallop believes the Californian club has settled down after Beckham's high-profile arrival.

Yallop said: "I think the whole emotional build-up to David arriving, and I'm not blaming him, but he finally arrived and we played poorly against Tigres then came out against Chelsea and decided to have a go, and we did and hopefully that's the start of something we can play like.

"Tonight in spells we showed what we can do. We moved the ball pretty sharply but we missed some good chances too and we should have scored some more goals tonight."

A goal apiece from striker Alan Gordon and captain Landon Donovan in the second half brought the Galaxy's three-game losing streak to an end.
