Mark Wood - Chief Executive

Mark Wood has been Chief Executive since June 2003 and Chairman since July 1998. He was previously Editor-In-Chief of Reuters from 1989 to 2000, in charge of the company's news and television operations worldwide. Prior to joining ITN full time, he was Managing Director of Reuters Content Partners, responsible for Reuters’ strategic media investments and alliances.

A career journalist, Mark joined Reuters in 1976 and was a correspondent in Vienna, East Berlin, Moscow and Bonn between 1977 and 1987.

He was appointed Editor, Europe in 1987 and, in a move to the management side, was an Executive Director of Reuters Holdings PLC from 1990 to 1996. He was made Editor-in-Chief of Reuters in 1989 with overall responsibility for the organisation’s news and television operations worldwide.

He was made a director of Visnews in 1989 and became Chairman in 1992. Visnews was renamed Reuters Television Ltd in January 1993.
