Jose Mourinho has got another award to go with the trophies won during his three-year stay in England.

The former Chelsea manager's Yorkshire Terrier, Leya, has been named 2007's top celebrity pet in a poll by the PDSA veterinary charity.

Leya beat off close competition from Socks, the controversial Blue Peter cat, and Alistair Darling's puss, Sybil

Mourinho was arrested and cautioned by police in May when he obstructed officers who called at his London home to take Leya into quarantine for an alleged breach of anti-rabies laws.

After apparently running off, the dog was later reunited with the Mourinho family and spirited back to Portugal on a private jet.

Just outside the top three of the PDSA's publicity-hungry pets were the three dogs which formed part of Britney Spears' custody battle, Pete Doherty's cat, Dinger, and David and Victoria Beckham's Yorkshire Terrier, Twiggy, which suffered from toilet trouble after going into quarantine in the US.
