Kenwright calls for Euro compensation
Bill Kenwright is calling for all Everton fans left stranded by the cancellation of their tickets for Thursday's Uefa Cup clash in Nurnberg to be compensated.
More than 1,000 Blues supporters have had their tickets annulled for the match in Germany after the Bundesliga club openly sold tickets directly to Everton supporters over the internet.
Fans from both clubs could have been sitting next to each other, but Uefa has now been asked to classify the Group A encounter as a 'risk' match.
And Kenwright believes those affected, who have spent money on travel costs and hotels but will not be able to get to the game, should be compensated.
The Everton chairman said: "I would have thought these boys do have the right to some sort of compensation."
He continued: "Evertonians will do anything to see their team, especially in Europe. The fact that these lads, who work hard for their money, have invested money not only in the tickets but in flights and hotels - they are wondering whether they should go.
"Some of them will want to be there, they've waited a long time to be in Europe. I do feel for them and I do feel they've been dealt a blow by Uefa."
