A special exhibition has been put on to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess and Hollywood starlet Grace Kelly.

The display, from Sotheby's New York, features a variety of her gowns, engagement ring, and her Academy Award, which she received for her role in 1955's The County Girl.

Also included are a diamond tiara, memorabilia from the royal wedding and personal letters.

Consul General of Monaco, Maguy Maccario Doyle, said that Kelly's son, Prince Albert, wanted to arrange the exhibition to honour his mother.

"She brought, of course, her cool beauty, grace, and intelligence to Monaco, but she also brought a sense of purpose. Our country still remembers the imprint of her presence and the heartache of her absence," said Doyle.

In addition to the exhibition, Sotheby's will auction two of Kelly's gowns: one that she wore in her last movie, High Society, and one that she wore on a political visit to the White House in 1961.
