Briton 'murdered in New Zealand'

A Briton has been killed in a double murder in New Zealand, according to reports.

David Roberts, 43, from Caernarfon, north Wales, was found dead in Auckland on Saturday, his family said.

Mr Roberts and an Indonesian man were stabbed to death in a ground floor apartment in the New Zealand capital.

Mr Roberts had been working as a manager of the apartment block, according to local media reports.

A spokeswoman for New Zealand police said an Iraqi man has been charged with the double murder and aggravated burglary.

Baseem Ridha Kadhim Abbad Almery, 30, appeared before Auckland District Court and was remanded in custody. He will appear before the court again on August 18.

Mr Roberts' niece, Tanya Lewis, was quoted as saying: "I can't believe somebody would do something like this to him. You don't think it's ever going to happen to you. It's devastating."
