Cameron visits Washington

David Cameron is meeting with senior White House officials in Washington on the second day of a visit to the United States.

Mr Cameron, accompanied by shadow foreign secretary, William Hague are also in the US capital to hold meetings at the State Department, the US Treasury and the World Bank.

Mr Cameron will use an address to influential think-tank the Brookings Institution to issue a warning that the Balkans is on the brink of a crisis

The pair are scheduled to visit the Arlington National Cemetery, the resting place of hundreds of thousands of US war veterans, including many of those killed in Iraq.

He will use the platform to call for Nato's military presence to be strengthened in the region and urge America to back international efforts to avoid conflict.

On Tuesday the pair visited New York for talks with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Republican Senator Chuck Hagel. Mr Bloomberg, an independent after quitting the Republicans, addressed the Conservative Party conference in Blackpool in October.
