Man wears ear hair with pride

A man from India has set a world record for exceptionally long ear hair.

Radhakant Bajpai, a grocer from northern Kanpur, first made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2003.

The grocer uses a special shampoo to maintain his hair and has stopped wearing rings and necklaces, so as not to damage it

The previous holder was BD Tyagi of the central Indian city of Bhopal, whose ear tufts measured 10.2cm.

Mr Bajpai's came in at 13.2cm when he first beat Mr Tyagi - but have since grown to almost 25cm.

He is however, dismayed at the lack of government appreciation of the feat.

"The government is not providing any assistance and society too is apathetic. People consider sporting long hair on ears to be an act of foolishness. Had the government commended the feat, society would also have been quick to accord recognition," Mr Bajpai said.
