Hoggard to miss Trent Bridge Test

England bowler Matthew Hoggard has been ruled out of the second Test against India.

The Yorkshire seamer is still recovering from the back injury that kept him out of the drawn first Test at Lord's.

"We did not consider Matthew Hoggard for this Test match on cricketing grounds" - David Graveney

The second match, at Trent Bridge, begins on Friday and he does not have enough time to prove his fitness following back spasms.

So England will be unchanged, with Hampshire's Chris Tremlett called up in place of Leicestershire fast bowler Stuart Broad, who was twelfth man at Lord's.

England's chairman of selectors David Graveney said: "We did not consider Matthew Hoggard for this Test match on cricketing grounds.

"He is making progress in his recovery from a back injury and came through a preliminary fitness test at the ECB National Cricket Centre. He will be reassessed to see if there is any response to the test and no decision has yet been made as to whether he will be available for domestic cricket later this week."
