Arrest after Sandhurst 'attempted murder'

A serviceman has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a female officer cadet at the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy.

The female cadet is believed to be Amii Calway, from Dover, Kent.

A 25-year-old serviceman, described only as a member of the armed forces, was arrested just before 2pm and is being held at Maidenhead police station.

The 22-year-old who celebrated her birthday at the end of June, was due to pass out as an officer from Sandhurst tomorrow.

She was found with serious head injuries after apparently falling from the third floor of a building at the prestigious academy, where Princes Harry and William both trained, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A 25-year-old serviceman, described only as a member of the armed forces, was arrested just before 2pm and is being held at Maidenhead police Station.

Ms Calway was taken to Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, where she is believed to be in a critical but not life-threatening condition.

An MoD Police spokesman said a joint investigation into the incident was being conducted by the MoD Police and the Royal Military Police and Thames Valley Police were also involved.
