Lewis wants to beat Ferrari in Italy

McLaren sensation Lewis Hamilton has launched a scathing attack on Formula One title rivals Ferrari ahead of Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.

The current World Drivers' Championship leader is desperate to win at Monza this weekend as the so-called 'spygate' saga rumbles on.

"Beating Ferrari on their home ground has got to be a huge blow to their whole team and that would make our team extremely happy" - Lewis Hamilton

While Hamilton and team-mate Fernando Alonso are looking to remain ahead of Ferrari rivals Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa, their teams remain embroiled in a bitter feud.

Next week McLaren will appear before the World Motor Sport Council after fresh evidence emerged and face being thrown out of this year's F1 championship after their suspended chief designer's alleged acquisition of a 780-page Ferrari technical dossier.

Hamilton is now determined to punish Ferrari in their own backyard on Sunday and told reporters: "That's been the target for the whole team. That's why they have pushed so hard.

"Beating Ferrari on their home ground has got to be a huge blow to their whole team and that would make our team extremely happy."

The 22-year-old British rookie, who is five points clear of Alonso at the top of the standings, continued: "For me, it would be a great feeling to do that because of what they are putting the team through.

"I know my team, I know the people here and I think we are being unfairly treated. So we want to do our talking on the track.

"We are the stronger team altogether, not just with the car but as a whole team - back at the factory and the team here."
