Sienna lined up for GI Joe flick

Sienna Miller has signed up to star in a big-budget movie version of GI Joe.

According to a US magazine, the actress will play the female lead, described as a "sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage".

Miller is the first star to sign on for the production, which begins filming in February

The story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE and revolves around an international force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organisation headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

The live-action film is based on the franchise which started life as a Second World War comic strip before becoming a popular series of toys in the US.

Miller is the first star to sign on for the production, which begins filming in February.

Directed by The Mummy's Stephen Sommers, it's release is scheduled for August 2009.
