Fans of mega-hit films Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar should find out within the next two months whether their favourite animated animals will make silver-screen comebacks.

Will Panda Po have the opportunity to use his deadly Wuxi Finger Hold again or will Skipper the penguin end up in Iraq as a covert operative are questions that will soon be answered by animation giants DreamWorks.

"We've started conversations about it, and I think in the next 30 or 60 days, we'll be able to talk completely about that" - Jeffrey Katzenberg

Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg has revealed the movie studio is in talks to make a sequel to box office hit Kung Fu Panda and a third instalment of Madagascar and could make an announcement within two months.

He said: "We've started conversations about it, and I think in the next 30 or 60 days, we'll be able to talk completely about that."

Set in China, Kung Fu Panda, voiced by Hollywood funnyman Jack Black, follows the journey of a clumsy-yet-lovable panda named Po in his efforts to become a kung fu warrior.

Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogan and Lucy Liu are among the other Hollywood heavyweights that lent their voices to the film, which raked in a record-breaking $560 million (£230 million).

Mr Katzenberg was speaking at a screening of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and said the company would produce and release at least one - and possibly two - more movies in the series about a breakaway gang of zoo creatures.
