Teen charged after 'mother' stabbed to death

A teenager was has been charged with the murder of a woman thought to be his mother.

Patricia Fort, 57, died of suspected stab wounds at Birmingham's Heartlands Hospital on Monday morning.

Emergency services found her critically injured at an address in Lanchester Way in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, shortly after 3am.

She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police said an 18-year-old man has been charged with her murder and is due to appear before Solihull Magistrates on Wednesday. They would not comment on reports that he is Mrs Fort's son.

They are awaiting the results of a post-mortem.
