They were docked six league points and the club's president Jorge Pinto da Costa was suspended for two years.

Now a Uefa committe has decided to kick the club out of the Champions League for a year.

A Porto statement read: "FC Porto was today notified by the Uefa Disciplinary Committee of the decision to not admit FC Porto to the 2008/09 edition of the Champions League.

"FC Porto will appeal against this decision to the Uefa Appeals Body."

Porto are the reigning Portuguese champions and they reached the last 16 in the Champions league last season.
