St Trinian's star tipped to play Bond girl

Newcomer Gemma Arterton is rumoured to have a landed the role of a Bond girl in the next 007 movie.

The 22-year-old reportedly beat thousands of hopefuls to a role in the provisionally-titled Bond 22.

Eon Productions, the company behind the Bond flicks, is believed to have said of the signing: "She has the modern look."

Filming for the new Bond film is set to start in January.

In St Trinian's, Arterton plays Head Girl Kelly, alongside Rupert Everett, Colin Firth and Mischa Barton.

Her next major screen outing will be in Guy Ritchie's gangster film RocknRolla.
