The widow of Garry Newlove, who was kicked to death by a gang of youths outside his home, has spoken out about youth violence.

Mrs Newlove has claimed that the breakdown of morals in Britain is so bad that children dish out violence like it is a video game.

"This is not a PlayStation game scenario. This is reality. This is not a situation where you can hit save and get up the next day. My husband did not wake up the next day" - Mrs Newlove

She said: "This is not a PlayStation game scenario. This is reality. This is not a situation where you can hit save and get up the next day. My husband did not wake up the next day."

She pleaded "please do not be naive" in what she hopes will be a wake-up call to toughen up the criminal justice system and community values.

Mrs Newlove made her comments alongside Tory leader David Cameron at a summit on Strengthening Families.

She added that there was "no quick fix" without strong policies: "We need action. Words are very cheap."

Mrs Newlove described herself as being "absolutely shattered" at now being a single mother of three through "no choice."
