The party was held to raise money for Darfur, and guests included Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Since then, the 18-year-old has become an overnight sensation.

Record companies are now queuing up to sign her, and she will perform at the John Peel stage for up-and-coming artists at the summer festival.

The singer, who works as a "singing waitress" at the Naked Turtle restaurant in Richmond, south-west London, describes her music as "kind of a female version of Frank Sinatra".

She said: "It's kind of like 1940s and 1950s big band stuff with a contemporary twist - modern lyrics and references to the internet and that sort of thing."
