Duffy has been making a big splash in the US, wowing the crowd at the Apollo concert hall in New York.

The 23-year-old - born Aimee Anne Duffy - is one of several young British singers trying to 'break' the United States.

The so-called 'Brit Invasion' has been jump-started by Amy Winehouse - whose double-platinum US debut "Back to Black" album won five Grammys - and fellow London singer Lily Allen's critically-acclaimed debut album 'Alright, Still'.

Duffy has been hailed by some critics as the new Dusty Springfield, the legendary 1960s singer whose hits included 'Son of a Preacher Man'.
