Camilla 'recovering well' after hysterectomy
The Duchess of Cornwall is recovering in hospital after having a hysterectomy, a statement from Clarence House has said.
"The Duchess of Cornwall had her operation this morning and is recovering well," said the statement.
The Prince of Wales later visited Camilla as she recuperated.
The Duchess underwent the procedure at the private King Edward VII hospital in central London after arriving there last night.
It is the same hospital were the Queen had minor, non-cancerous growths removed from her face and had her knee operated on.
Camilla is expected to spend the rest of the week in one of the 61 private en-suite air-conditioned rooms which cost £500 a night. She is expected to rest at home for six weeks.
The procedure is fairly common in the UK with around one in five women given a hysterectomy before the age of 60.
