Court frees Doherty over technicality

Pete Doherty has been released from court on a legal technicality following his latest arrest for alleged drug possession.

Doherty, 28, was arrested early Monday morning in east London on suspicion of possessing drugs.

The case was dismissed at West London Magistrates Court after it emerged police had not taken him to court within 24 hours of the initial arrest

His arrest came just hours after he performed at the V festival in Staffordshire and less than a fortnight after a judge warned him that he could face prison or a community order over earlier drug charges.

The Babyshambles frontman's latest appearance in court related to an alleged breach of bail conditions.

But the case was dismissed at West London Magistrates Court after it emerged police had not taken him to court within 24 hours of the initial arrest.

Doherty, who enjoyed a high-profile relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, has undergone a stomach implant to help him kick drugs.
