The Northern Ireland golfer finished on 13 under par, two strokes ahead of James Kingston from South Africa.

McDowell climbs from tenth place to sixth in the Ryder Cup standings and it would take an extraordinary sequence of results to deny him a place on the Europe team at Valhalla in September.

Australian Richard Green and Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez tied for third place on ten under par.

England's Simon Khan held a two-stroke lead with seven holes to play in the final round but he squandered his chance of victory with double-bogeys at the 12th and 17th.

However, he qualified for The Open at Royal Birkdale next week by finishing in fifth place on nine-under-par.
