Two more apologies will follow in the Sunday versions of the Express and Star while lawyers representing the newspapers are expected to read out statements at the High Court on Wednesday.

The publishers are also expected to pay an undisclosed amount into the Find Madeleine fund as part of the libel action.

Gerry and Kate McCann sued the Express and Star in respect of more than 100 articles that appeared in print over 10 months.

Four-year-old Madeleine disappeared from a holiday villa in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz on May 3 last year.
