Youth remanded over park murder

A 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of teenager Amar Aslam in a West Yorkshire park.

The boy appeared at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court accused of murdering 17-year-old Amar, who was found dead in Crow Nest Park, in Dewsbury, on May 25.

The teenager, who also faces a charge of robbery, was remanded to appear before Leeds Crown Court on June 9.

The 16-year-old is the fifth person to be charged with Amar's murder and robbery.

Amin Hussain Ali, 20, from Dewsbury, and the three 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named, appeared at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday accused of murdering Amar and robbing him of £10, a silver chain and a mobile phone.

All four were remanded to appear before Leeds Crown Court on June 5.

Three other youths arrested last week have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
