Rooney faces two months on sidelines

Wayne Rooney could be out of action for two months with a hairline fracture in his left foot.

The England striker suffered the injury when he collided with Reading defender Michael Duberry during a 0-0 draw in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

"Carlos Tevez is available now and Louis Saha and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are training" - Sir Alex Ferguson

It seems certain Rooney will miss England's friendly against Germany on August 22 but he could also miss eight Premier League fixtures, including a home game against Chelsea.

Rooney's injury may force Sir Alex Ferguson to hand Carlos Tevez his debut at Portsmouth on Wednesday but the United boss has ruled out signing another striker before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.

He said: "Carlos Tevez is available now and Louis Saha and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are training.

"With Wayne as well, we have four strikers so I am not looking at a situation where I have to add to that number."
