A plug adapter has been launched that stops energy being wasted by electrical devices left on standby.

Laura Yates, climate and energy campaigner at Greenpeace, said: "Standby's got to go, but in the meantime it's great news that these energy saving plug adapters are now available."

The SMJ Energy Saving Plug Adapter goes on sale priced at £9.99.

Negotiations are also under way to launch a similar device which featured on the television show Dragons' Den.
